Moonstone & Fossil Coral Moon Mala

For this 108 Mala I used 6mm Moonstone, 6mm Fossil Coral, brass spacer beads and a Crescent Moon amulet. The mala has been hand knotted on an extra strong, nylon cord with one knot between each gemstone bead. It not only looks great, it also makes it easy to use it as a tool in your meditation practice.

Mala length: 37" (94cm). Amulet length: 1 1/8" (30mm).

Moonstone is a great gemstone to help calm responses and stress and avoid overreaction. It brings hope, enhances feminine energies, sensitivity, intuition and psychic abilities. It is also said to bring strong energies of abundance to one’s life. Moonstone is a stone of protection, especially during childbirth, pregnancy, and travel at sea. It is also associated with love of all kinds. It is the gem of the High Priestess and helps with self-discovery, deep insight, harmony in relationships and soothes emotions. This stone is named for its glowing color sheen that resembles the moonlight; it displays a unique play of floating color known as adolescence. Connected to the Crown Chakra (connection, life force, higher power) and Third Eye Chakra (intuition, knowledge, divine wisdom), and sometimes with the Heart Chakra (love, acceptance, forgiveness).

Fossil Coral first of all – Fossil Coral should not be mistaken for endangered or protected reef coral or precious coral. It is a type of agate or chalcedony, rather than a type of coral. It is a natural type of gemstone formed by ancient corals. Since fossil coral is a combination of coral and agate, it carries many strong metaphysical beliefs. It is a grounding stone, said to be ruled by the moon. It protects against evil spirits because it is believed that each coral gem contained divine blood. The color varies from white and pink, too brown, gray, black, yellow and red.  The color may vary widely within a single stone. Fossil coral is a form of agate, which in turn is a variety of quartz. It is connected to the third Eye Chakra (intuition, knowledge, divine wisdom).

Crescent Moon.
The word crescent means to bring forth, to create, grow and thrive. It stands for Transformation, Fertility, Illumination, Change, Shadows, Balance, Emotions, Intuition, Inner Knowledge, Femininity. The Waning Crescent (right before a New Moon) is a time to anchor into your new intention. This is a great time to get rid of negative energy in your life, of things you don’t need or things, or letting go of people or habits which are harming you. The Waxing Crescent (right after a New Moon) is the final phase of the entire moon cycle and it’s a great opportunity to look back and reflect. It is also a great time to start something new and invite new things into your life. It symbolizes growth and creativity.
