For this 108 Mala I used 6mm Grainstone, brass and copper ball beads and brass and copper spacer beads. A Japa mala is usually made with a simpler design, so it’s easier to use during your mala meditation practice (so no tassels or amulets that might be in the way). The mala has been hand-knotted on an extra strong, nylon cord with one knot between each gemstone bead. It not only looks great, it also makes it easy to use it as a tool in your meditation practice.
* Usually I would never wrap a mala around my wrist (if you try to force it over your wrist it can easily break) - but this particular mala length works to wrap around a 6" wrist (15.5cm).
Mala length: 39" (99cm).
Grainstone is defined as a limestone consisting of grain-supported particles without any mud matrix. This is an assisting stone used to enhance healing properties, encourages purification, reminds us of our innocence, grounds and centers us and entices positive thoughts. Due to its grounding make-up of clay, sand, organic remains, iron oxide and other materials, they come in different colors. It is connected to the Root Chakra (connection to earth, survival instincts, self-preservation). Affirmation: I am grounded and calm.
Read more about gemstones and their healing qualities in my Healing Gemstone Guide. Gemstones are natural materials and each gemstone is unique and the color may vary within a single stone. The gemstone colors in the mala may vary slightly from the photos.
